the autumn of 2011, to be precise, ABC t.v. took a chance on a most remarkable series that probably shall not last beyond its first year because

a) I like it, and

b) It's extraordinarily entertaining--dark, sinister, threatening, and a little quirky, and

c) It airs at8 p.m. Sunday, just as the third NFL game is getting underway.

The Snow White tale is the primary story behind it, and her Wicked Queen Stepmother the driving force, but as the episodes unfold, characters from all fairy tales show up. So far, for me, the most intriguing one is Rumplestiltskin, who's probably the only one who can control WQ in either fairy-tale land or the town of Storybrook where they all find themselves and don't know who they were long ago.

Rumplestiltskin is absolutely repulsive in his original form--filthy hair, rheumy eyes, yellow teeth and bleeding gums. But whoa, in Storybrook, his hair's still messy but totally clean, his eyes are truly beautiful, his teeth are white and straight, and his wardrobe is absolutely elegant. And he's developed a light Scottish accent. He still exists for only one reason--making deals. And it goes without saying they'll benefit him.

He's similar to Gary Cole's "Sheriff Lucas Buck" on American Gothic--another one of my favorites that didn't last more than a couple seasons.

We agree. C loves this series, and I agree. Yeah it's too well produced written and acted to last very long. Plus, you like it and we are also a part of the Doomed demography. We also get a kick out of Grimm. Sometimes the treatment of a show can overcome its basic unbelievability--fun show.

Oh, yay, someone else watches it! Besides Dee and me. I've missed only one episode, and that was the Sunday after Thanksgiving because we had company for dinner. I hope ABC keeps it around for at least a couple seasons. Goes without saying I'll buy the DVD set when it comes out, which it's sure to eventually--even though I have no idea how to make the video player work.

Once Upon a time is the best tv show ever made! IMHO the first season of this show was both great and awful! I watched it using boxxy software and I know that! The stories were really cool, but what happened in storybook was boring... Fortunately I always can find something interesting for watching just because I use boxxy and that's mean I have all movies and serials absolutely for free without subscription.

You certainly seem to have come here to promote boxxy, which I doubt the rest of us have ever heard of. Is there any other reason for your arrival? blankstare

Stanimir: If you're here to promote a product I'm going to need a cut. Let's say 50%. No? Good. Don't let the doorknob hit you in the ass on your way out.
