Curiostiy, not paranoia.  You were curious what a nytram was, I was curious how quickly our board came up on a google search of "message boards".

What would concern me equally, if not more, is what Stoney would make of the newbies.

The thought of herding cats comes to mind, but Nytram and Ghostal have been pretty good wranglers so far.

I went a step further...Googled "nytram"...had to scroll to page 17 to find a reference to Boss Man at something called "ProBoards Support", not even a reference to a board, let alone a link.

"Googled messageboards, came across this & didn't know what a Nytram was. Curiosity..."

Maybe...MAYBE...you thought it had something to do with streetcars in Manhattan...you know...like a NY tram? Yeah, that's gotta be it...

Sooooooo--if a former member who was tossed out while we were at ProBoard wanted to find where we went, he'd be able to just by following the first link listed.  The only thing that's kept the problem children from returning to stay is the Adminstration's ability to check ISP numbers.

DAMMIT! This is just the kind of crap I was talking about! Does it really matter how he found us? This PARANOID CRAP is just what keeps new members from coming here. Oh yeah...just tell him not to let the door hit him in the ass as he leaves. Has he done or said ANYTHING to make you think he's some kind of spy or something? Do you people think you could wait for him to do something horrible before you chase him out? For christ's sake!

Ummm...was I harsh?

What attitude? Has he done or said anything mean or trollish since he's been here? Maybe he is a former member who was banned...I don't know...but I sure don't have proof. As for the google thing...I never know how searches will come up. They are different for me every time.  Why is it necessary to grill a person to death if they just want to join up? Can't we just give them a chance and at least wait until they act up before we start acting out? This is junior high cliquey stuff. If all of you (and there are just a few of you left) want a nice quiet board where people all know each other and how they think...and agree with eveything you say, then just keep things the way they are. But ask yourselves why so many of our most prolific and daily posters have not been seen or heard from for a long time.

I had a suspicion that I knew who Fat Free was too. Definitely a familiar M.O. there.

I just didn't really care, because I say the more the merrier.

Look folks...I'm not saying that Low Fat Lenin isn't someone who has been a member here before and has possibly been banned from here. What I AM saying is that there is no proof YET that he is. I just took it upon myself to read every single thing he has posted since he got here. Oh! Yeah boy! He's been a real trouble maker so far! He has stirred the pot so hard I almost yawned.

Does our board judge a person "guilty" before they have even done anything wrong?

I didn't judge him guilty.  I found his answer curious, so I did the search.  I have given LFL a wide girth since he got here.  He hasn't deleted his account, so it is possible he could come back.

In the meantine, I guess you got the blood boiling thread you have been looking for.  biggrin

Unlike you, I don't care to get into these heated debates anymore.  If I did, I would have asked him if he was Turks as I suspected long ago.  I know some people don't like Turks, but we eventually hit our stride.  No, I have enough stress related health problems to know not to aggravate them on a message board.  I'd rather make my boring posts about fuzzy little kittens.  smile

If they have been banned before, they have already been judged. And you forget that nytram and I have access to more information than everyone else.

So ghostal...are you saying that you have had information that he was a banned poster all along? Since November 1st?

No Ithy...this is not the kind of mental stimulation I was hoping for. This is stressful...not interesting or entertaining.

Even though I have been trying to give you all some insights into why people have left this board, it seems as though you would rather make a judgment about me than consider what I've said. I mistakenly believed that you all knew me well enough after all these years that you might give some thought to what I was saying.  I truly believed that you would recognize my intention to help...not hurt. Such is life.

Yes. I see these posts coming a mile away and the open-ended/accusatory questions designed to back people into a corner that follow and it just gets boring and exhausting.

Would you feel better if I left the board too ghostal? I've known most of these people for ten plus years but if you see me as a trouble maker please...by all means...tell me and I will delete my account.

Seriously? I can't tell if you're mocking the comment you quoted. No one wants you to delete your account.

Ghostal...I wouldn't know an "open-ended/accusatory" question if it bit me in the butt. I simply ask questions...and when you tell me that you have had information that a new member was a banned member and he has been here for over a month...and you haven't said anything about that until now....while I have been trying to defend someone I don't even know....(and yes...I do know what a run on sentence is) simply because I don't believe in pre-judging someone before they have done anything wrong...Then I am getting frustrated! Yes Ghostal...Seriously.

Diana, I'm not judging you.  I'm happy to have you as a friend.  I wish we could all have the board that we want.  I actually think the members here showed quite a lot of restraint since LFL showed up.  Once the red flag gets raised though, I think that the questions that have been held back since his arrival just came flooding out.

My hackles were raised and my red flag went up after this exchange, about a month ago. Just rubbed my fur the wrong way.
So good f'king riddance. Better for all concerned that he left in his own Accord...before Boss Man had to unholster his poof gun. Again.

I have a question. If this board is opened up for reading and registration and new people checked us out...what do you think THEY would think of our board the way it is right now? Would they think we are interesting or would they be bored to tears? Would they even want to join up? You see...we have all known each other for years! We know how each of us think and how we will react to different ideas. I love all of you and I wouldn't want to lose contact with you. BUT...there is nothing NEW here. There is nothing to make us interesting...nothing to get us thinking again...or even to get our blood boiling a bit and a sucessful board needs those things in order to keep members coming back.

I don't like the idea of having trolls attack us, but like ghostal said, those entities are easily disposed of. We need new blood! We need new ideas and differing opinions again. Shutting ourselves off from people who don't always make us feel comfortable or who even make us angry just for the sake of "peace" is not always a good idea.

I would love to see Nytram's as a lively, funny, scrappy, and interesting board again. That's just my two cents.

 I am with Diana.

As I have said before, message boards are like good pubs. You can wandering around, engage in any converstion you like and no one is offended. And even better, as Diana pointed out, if things do get a little heated and you have to go outside and discuss matters on the stones, no one ends up in the local Accident and Emergency.

Actually Nytram, since it is the season of goodwill (No auntie, I really won't miss you when you are gone. The best I will do will be to piss on your grave to water the flowers), how about opening up the board to all comers for a couple of weeks?

That will make it easier for newbies to decide if they want to stay around and give us some trolls to torture if we get bored.
