I noticed just now that there green or red lines under the different forums. When I clicked on Games it went right  to an action game in a 4 by 4 inch block. Under bottom of the barrel title it came up with different items for sale? And so on.

I have been having trouble with a games board called royal games.com  which I frequent often. It too is showing pop up blockers the same as here, advertising games every few seconds. If its just me--then good for everyone else.

still how can I find the virus or what ever that has invaded my computer? Also at the bottom of every screen or site I go too

I get: internet explorer blocked this website from displaying content with security and certificate errors. Attached is a box  on th e left which says show content.

and a small x. When I press show contents I get a block which says how to get block ups but nothing in how to prevent them?

Even when I press the small x, it comes on again every 10 seconds.

Helpcry In the mean time I will run my viral protector. I've already dumped history and cookies and have defragged.

You haven't done anything to the site...something has been done to your machine. Maybe you can do a "restore" and make your computer go back to an earlier point in time...like yesterday or a few days ago. And then you can lose the bug you've picked up.

Sometimes that's a good way to unscramble a mess that you can't find a way out of. It usually works for me. See if you can try that...open your computer's Control Panel screen and click on the link that says "Recovery"...

Go to http://www.malwarebytes.org/ and try their free version. Your system is infected. I am so sorry. Let us know how it works.

Best of luck with all the suggestions, Uni.  For what little it's worth, no, I haven't encountered any of the problems you mentioned.

I had my own problems not very long ago--my machine just wouldn't interface with google or anything google-connected, wouldn't open the ATT-yahoo e-mail, and made me jump through Outlook hoops to access my Hotmail account.

Off to the shop with it again--even though I'd run the anti-malware sites the shop installed the end of October, and both of them plus my anti-virus program kept insisting "Everything's OK!"

Purranoid as I can be, I wondered if the shop didn't install delayed screw-ups just so they'll stay in business.

To be continued, Ed just brought me some scrambled eggs for a bed-time snack.

Oh my, that was quite good!

On the other hand, the shop owner recommended buying a Mac the next time we decided to buy a new computer, which he'd love to sell but can't because he can't guarantee $25,000,000 in sales every year.  He said that's what he and the rest of the guys use for their personal machines, and they don't even bother to install anti-virus programs.  It's not the price that makes me reluctant, it's having to learn a new operating system.

No worries Uni, there is nothing a user can do that will harm the board. As others have said, it sounds like you picked up a bit of malware. Try Dima's link, malwarebytes is a very good program.

Hi Uni, sorry to hear of your troubles.

I don't know if this will help but you never know.

When I pick up a bug I go to the internet and type www.google.com in the address bar. If you then click on that you should side step whatever virus has been installed and you can go about your affairs.

Sooner or later the adwear will raise its ugly head and tell you it is www.megarippoff.com or some such. In that case type the name into google and ask how you get rid of it. With luck you will find a billion other folk have been infected and they will soon tell you how to get shot of the brute. It is usually quite simple. If you have windows you go to Control Panel, then Add or Remove and get rid of anything you don't like the look of. And then you fiddle with various other bits and pieces and end up feeling dead smug because you have debugged your PC and the kid at the computer shop still doesn't know what is going on.

Don't worry about messing up the site. These viruses are only adwear and all they really want is Nytram's money. And he hasn't got any because he invested it all in women and drink.
